5 Graduation Photo Gifts They Will Cherish
Springtime means graduation celebrations and graduation gifts.
Many graduation gifts can be very useful (watches, laundry baskets, cash), while others are inspirational (Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr. Seuss!). Let’s make this year’s gift really meaningful AND memorable!
Let’s talk about graduation photo gifts.
Why Graduation Photo Gifts?
Whether your graduate is leaving high school for college or college for the real world, their life is changing. They will meet new people, have new experiences, and travel to new places. Amidst all this change, having a photo (or several) nearby to remember their home-based family and friends can be comforting. It can help with homesickness or remind the graduate of why they’ve worked so hard in the first place.
1. Frame A Photo or Two
Why not print your favorite photo (or photos) of you and the graduate? You can frame it yourself or use a company like Framebridge to create a custom-framed masterpiece.
You could make a desktop collage. This would look great on a nightstand, desk, or bookcase. Or a canvas wall collage would be really fun too.
2. Enjoy A Digital Photo Frame
Digital photo frames are a great way to send your graduate off with lots and lots of photos to enjoy. Today’s photo frames are often Wi-Fi enabled, so you can add pictures whenever you want.
My favorite is the Nixplay Wi-Fi Cloud Frames. I have given many as gifts, and I have several myself. With the Nixplay frame, you can send your graduate photos from your photos, your computer as well as from Facebook, Instagram, Google Photos, and Dropbox. You can also create friends for the account, and they can send photos as well. It’s really fun to send new photos and then see the recipient’s reaction when they pop up on the frame. (Read my more extensive review of the Nixplay frames here.)
3. Let’s Drink Coffee
You know your graduate will need some caffeine to get through those long all-night study sessions and early mornings at the office, so how about a photo coffee mug? They come in a variety of designs (including travel mugs and water bottles), and the ones I have given as gifts have held up well.
4. Time to Get Comfortable
When I was in college, I spent a lot of time sitting on my bed studying, sleeping, and visiting with friends. What graduate wouldn’t love to snuggle up with a soft fleece blanket and a comfy pillow featuring pictures of the pets or friends? Many photo printing companies make them now. These blankets come in a wide variety of sizes and fabrics.
5. Capture it with A Photo Book
Nothing captures the growth and blossoming of your graduate like a photo book.
I created photo books for both of my children when they graduated from high school. I decided they wouldn’t want a book filled with only pictures of them, so I gathered photos from various parts of their lives. The categories I included were Activities, Vacations, Family, Friends, Pets, Houses she’s lived in, Holidays, and a few more. I collected 5-15 photos for each of these categories. Both kids loved their books. I even printed a copy for me and their grandmother as well.
Photobook vendors abound, and everyone has their favorites. If you don’t feel creative enough to make a photo book yourself, many photo book vendors have services where you provide the photos, and they will create the book for you. Or you can reach out to me. I’d love to help you bring your dream into reality.
Your graduate would cherish any of these gift ideas. And be sure to tell them congratulations from me!

I really like calendars. You could put pictures from each school grade eg, January kindergarten, February grade one (first grade). Perhaps if it is a graduation from High school the pictures would be all from grade 12 ( senior year) to commemorate that year. Great memories to have as they move to university or college they can take it with them to help overcome home sickness.
I made photo books for each of my girls. It was a big project, but I’m very glad I did it. Instead of going chronologically, I did “theme pages.” Some of my categories were friends, school, vacation, family, activities, awards and ‘around the house.’ I titled them “Life So Far” and put their graduation photo on the cover. I think they both loved their books.
Wonderful ideas, Andi!
Great gift ideas! I made several photo books myself but recently tried a service, and it was lovely. It was a smaller book, but it was hardback, and my daughter loved it. This year, I’m doing a video for my son’s graduation with digital photos from his first 18 years. It makes me cry everytime I edit it. I guess its good. lol
These are wonderful ideas to acknowledge love, growth, and change. Some of my favorite treasures are photos and albums. Creating videos are great too. I love Animoto, which has an easy to use interface that lets you easily combine stills, videos, music, and text.

These are all such nifty ideas, and applicable for all kinds of gift giving. I’m a fan of mugs, so I think I’m going to have to give the mug option a try. Thank you for the resource links!
I enjoy the gifts that you use, a coffee mug, blanket or a reloadable gift card with the photo of the grad on it. In Canada, you can customize Tim Horton coffee cards with personal photos.
