3 Ways to View Your Slides Before You Scan Them
If you have boxes or projector carousels full of slides, but no way to view them, what do you do? Continue to let your slides sit unseen at the top of the closet? Let’s not. Allow us to suggest a few ways to preview your slides before you have them scanned.
Use Your Phone or Tablet
In order to view a slide you need to have a light source behind the slide and you probably already have one in your pocket or sitting beside you…your phone or tablet.
Simply open the Notes app and create a new blank note. Now you have a blank white screen that will act as a light table to view your slides. If you do this on a tablet, you’ll be able to view several slides at once.
Use a Slide Viewer
Another way to view your slides is with a slide viewer. They are relatively inexpensive (around $25) and allow you to review your slides quickly and easily. Some are even made to preview negatives as well.
If you have a very large number of slides, you may want to use an artist’s tracing box or a light box which allows for viewing multiple slides at once.
Use a Magnifying Glass
Even if you use the first two methods we’ve suggested, you may have a hard time telling exactly what’s on your slides. In this case, you can use a jeweler’s loupe or small magnifying glass to see the details.
Once you’ve reviewed your slides and decided which ones you want digitized, let us know. We’d love to help you bring these images back into your life by scanning them.
