Think your photos are backed up? How to check your computer backups and be sure.

How to Verify Your Computer Backups Easily

If you have automatic computer backups in place, how do you know that your files (and photos) are really backed up?

You have often heard me say how important it is to back up your digital photos.  Hopefully, you have at least one of your backups in the cloud or on an external hard drive.

When was the last time you checked to ensure that the automatic process was still working correctly?

Never? That’s what I thought. Let’s talk about doing a backup check.

Photo Backups

When using an automatic photo backup app on your phone like Amazon Photos, SmugMug, OneDrive, or Dropbox, it’s important to open the app regularly to ensure the app is backing up properly. Sometimes, you have to give it a little nudge to get it moving again. We recommend making this app check part of your normal monthly photo maintenance.

Remember that technology is great until it’s not.

It’s up to you to be sure things are working properly on your end. If they aren’t, reach out to customer service for help.
